SCHOOL CLOSED

Dear JCS Families,

In recognition of the COVID-19 pandemic and after thoughtful consideration for our community the District has determined that it is necessary to close our school for this coming week, March 16-20.  This decision is a precautionary measure as there are currently no diagnosed cases in Humboldt County.

All currently issued independent study contracts are paused as we are not prepared to offer our entire student body independent study for next week.

An email is being sent out to all families with the same message posted here.

We are asking JCS families to:

  1. Respond individually (please do not Reply All) to your child’s teacher letting them know that you have received the email.  We will be making calls to those families who do not email their child’s teachers to ensure that all families receive this communication.

  2. If your child qualifies for free/reduced priced meal and you would like to continue receiving breakfast and lunch during the school closure, please email Mrs. Nannizzi or call our voicemail line to arrange a time to pick up food.  (707) 633-9090 or [email protected]

I will send out further communication by Tuesday afternoon that outlines some of our plans for food services and a blended distance learning model for our students should this become an extended closure.  This situation will be reassessed weekly and families can expect communication from me each Friday.

Please feel free to email Mrs. Nannizzi directly with any questions.

Sincerely,

Melanie Nannizzi and the JCS Staff
