Sports Schedules & Athletic Passes
Families can purchase a ‘Season Pass’ at games or the JCS school office. This pass is just $50, will get you into all Bay League sporting events, excluding tournaments and non-league games, and proceeds benefit our athletics program.
The full schedules of current sports teams can always be seen on the Sports Board mounted at the front of the school and on the JCS website. Come on out to one of these events and support our JCS athletes!
Notes from our Athletic Director
Fall sports have concluded. Congratulations to ALL of our fall athletes!! The girls volleyball teams played hard and had fun! Our cross country team had a successful season. Our 3-5 boys took 2nd Place, and our K-2 boys, 3-5 girls, and 6-8 girls took 1st Place. We ended our season with the Annual JCS to Redwood Yogurt Run. A BIG THANK YOU to Scott at Redwood Yogurt for treating us to delicious yogurt!!!
Girls basketball is underway. League play begins on November 4th and our first home league game is November 6th against McKinleyville. The 6th grade game begins at 4 PM and the 7th and 8th grade games will follow. Admission is charged; cash or check. $5 for adults; $3 for seniors; $2 for students; and $50 for Bay League Passes.

BOYS BASKETBALL (6th, 7th, 8th grades) THE BAY LEAGUE DOES NOT HAVE 5th GRADE BASKETBALL
Tryouts/assessments will be December 15th - 17th

- If you have not already done so, please email Davita ASAP at [email protected] to indicate that your student will be trying out so that they will be added to the rosters and their academic and behavior eligibility can be confirmed prior to 12/8.
- Carefully complete and return all required documents, including a pre-participation physical by 2:15 PM 12/8—if your student participated in a fall sport and their physical is still current, they are cleared.
Athletes must participate in ALL tryout/assessment dates. To participate in tryout/assessments, athletes must turn in all required paperwork by 2:15 PM on 12/8 and meet grade-level academic and behavioral requirements.
Tryouts will be December 15th – 17th: ATHLETES WILL BE NOTIFIED OF TEAM SELECTION VIA PARENT/GUARDIAN EMAIL ON WEDNESDAY, 12/17 BY 9:00 PM.
- 7th grade: Monday - Wednesday, 3:00 PM -4:45 PM (tryouts)
- 6th grade: Monday - Wednesday, 4:45 PM - 6:15 PM (assessments)
- 8th grade: Monday - Wednesday, 6:15 - 7:45 PM (tryouts)
* Basketball is Monday – Friday (League games on T/Th, and tournaments on Fri/Sat when applicable). These times will be the set practice times for the season. Practices are subject to change; check in with the coach.
COED CHEER/DANCE (7th & 8th grades) PENDING CONSTRUCTION PROGRESS
Tryouts will be December 15th – 17th, times to be announced. Athletes must participate in ALL tryout dates. To participate in tryouts, athletes must turn in all required paperwork and meet grade level academic and behavioral expectations prior to 2:15 PM on 12/8. Practice is Monday – Friday (League games on T/Th, and tournaments on Fri/Sat when applicable)
TRACK & FIELD (COED 5th - 8th grades)
Practices will begin Monday, March 9th, times to be announced. To participate in the season, athletes must join the team on 3/9. Athletes must turn in all required paperwork and meet grade level academic and behavioral expectations prior to 2:15 PM on 3/2. Track and Field is on Monday, Tuesday, & Thursday (meets vary: Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday depending on meet schedule).
GOLF (COED 6th – 8th grades) late Spring, TBD
To participate in golf, athletes must be able to play at least four holes under double par. Each school is limited to entering a maximum of six eligible players at each tournament.
Golf is scheduled to start in the late spring. The league has not determined a specific start date yet. JCS will need to secure practice time at Baywood. If we are unable to secure practice time, we will not be able to have a team this season.
If your student is eligible and interested in participating in golf this season, please email Davita McGoldrick by March 1st.
ALL FORMS MUST BE TURNED IN ANNUALLY. They can be found in the office and on our website here.
*Physicals are valid for one year from the date signed by the provider.
Athletics paperwork, including preparticipation physicals, is due PRIOR to the sport deadline:
- 6th – 8th Grade Boys’ Basketball— 2:15 PM, Monday, 12/8
- 6th – 8th Grade Cheer/Dance— 2:15 PM, Monday, 12/8
- 5th – 8th Grade Coed Track & Field— 2:15PM, Monday, 3/2
- 6th – 8th Grade Coed Golf— 2:15 PM, Monday, 3/30
SPORTS PHYSICALS (required annually for TK-12)
If you have not done so already, you should schedule an appointment for your student athlete to get their pre-participation physical. Students who do not complete and return the required paperwork by the designated deadline will not be able to participate in the season. Redwood Urgent Care may offer pre-participation physical evaluations, aka sports physicals.
